Welcome to "Clearhills Farrier Services', and thank you for stopping in to take a look at our website. I am  Patrick Ards APF I,  and I have been shoeing horses for 27 years. I began by attending and graduating from the farrier science program at Seneca College in King City, Ontario in 1990; graduating with "High Honors" and at the top of my class.

I began my shoeing practice in Southwestern Ontario, working mainly with hunters, jumpers, event horses and english/western pleasure horses. In 2003 we moved our business to Northern Alberta, and within a few short months had taken on enough clients to shoe full time once again. There was then, and still is today, a chronic shortage of professional farriers in the area. Today I work in a number disciplines including roping, barrel racing, reining, cattle penning, endurance racing, western & english  pleasure, etc.

As a professional farrier, I treat my business and my clients in a professional manner. I schedule all of my clients by appointment only. I will arrive for our appointment on time, and if for some reason am unable to keep our appointment, or am going to be late, I will contact you as soon as possible with an update, and, I expect my clients to be available with horses ready at the scheduled time.

I will always treat your horses with respect and kindness. I am a very patient farrier and usually manage to get the work done in a timely fashion. I do expect your horses to be well behaved or otherwise controlled during the work we are performing.

Graduating from farrier school is only the first step to obtaining a farriers education. I attend clinics and conferences whenever possible, and belong to the 'Canadian Association of Professional Farriers', 'American Farriers Association' and the 'Western Canadian Farriers Association'. I have subscribed to the 'American Farriers Journal' for over 20 years, and have online memberships at the 'Farrier & Hoofcare Resource Center' and 'Know Hoof Know Horse'.

NOTE: I have recently been awarded  the designation, APF  I, " Accredited Professional Farrier" status with the Canadian / American Association of Professional Farriers , demonstrating my commitment to furthering my farrier  education.
